In a world of constant motion and distraction, we often lose touch with what truly nourishes us, the simplicity of being present and fully attuned to our senses. Seen through my eyes, my photographs emerge from stillness. A gentle return to ourselves and to the natural rhythm of the world around us, to slow down and notice what often goes unseen.

本質 | honshitsu — the essence

Each story begins with a simple observation. Of a moment, of a feeling. Scenes that invite me to reconnect with the world around, and ultimately with myself. My interior. Photography invites me to slow down, live with intention, and become more present in the moments I experience. Stories of what I saw, what I felt, and the small moments that unfolded in between.

Traces of stillness

Born from a deep connection to how we move through the world and the stories held in moments we often overlook, how the everyday turns extraordinary when seen with intention.

the origin — genten | 原点

Photography, for me, is a form of presence, a way of listening with the eyes and being fully attuned to the senses. It is less about the scene itself and more about the feeling it leaves behind. In those brief moments, something quiet and essential reveals itself, not only what I see, but how I experience the world around me.

Through Silent Interiors, I share these moments as I saw and experienced them, small fragments of the world captured in stillness. It is a visual journal shaped by presence and grounded in the belief that beauty often whispers, if we are willing to pause and truly notice. A reminder to slow down and remember how it feels to be present.

在り方 | arikata — way of being

I am Maurits van Wijk. My work takes me around the world, while photography gives me a reason to slow down and take it all in. I have always been curious about the world around me, the places we find ourselves in, the people we meet, and the moments that stay with us.

If this way of being resonates with you, I warmly invite you to join the newsletter and explore it with me.
